So you can get to know us, AND to lighten up the "Geek Speak", we are "salting" this website with "EE" (i.e., Einstein's Edits and remarks) and "DD" (i.e., Dog Daddy) comments and remarks -- like the following:
Also, Einstein has persuaded me to made most pictures on this site EXPANDABLE -- simple by "hovering" over the picture with your mouse pointer or by touching a picture. When asked "why?", he said, "Because zooming pictures FUN!". I can't disagree; however, Smart phones and tablets are already at their "max size" in most cases.
Bruce Mayfield, (i.e.,Dog-Daddy a.k.a. DD)
EE: And Einstein!
EE: I call my dad, Dog Daddy (i.e., DD) and he speaks "geek".
He "marks" his comments with "DD".
You can ignore most stuff he says.
Just look for my "marks" -- EE -- And I'll translate "geek" to what you "speak".
After all, I am Director of Marking!
DD: Don't get too "cocky", I know where there is a rooster -- interested in your job!
We DO practice Inter-species Equal Opportunity.
EE: That's a fowl thing to say.

Learn More About Einstein: Director of Marking
The Morkie is a " designer " breed of dog which is a cross between a purebred Yorkshire Terrier and a purebred Maltese Terrier (i.e., Maltese + Yorkie = Morkie). Einstein -- "Einee" for short -- is a rare "Golden" Morkie.
Einstein is large for his breed, weighing 14.8 pounds. He is very agile and VERY fast. Even though he has has only 5 inch legs, he can dribble -- yes, bounce -- a tennis ball, and play with 3 balls at once -- or one ball and a stuffed monkey and a stuffed penguin!
He has two settings: "Go FAST!" and "Snuggle".
Einstein is a kind of "rescue dog" who's first owner could not take care of him. We got him at 7 months old -- never house trained or leash trained.
I bought him several dog training videos -- which we watched together. Cesar Millan: Dog Whisper: Cesar's Way - and an electronic dog collar -- definitely saved Einstein.
Now Einstein is obedient -- and conversant; and I mean that. "Sit", "stay", "release", "go out side", "go for a walk","come here", "jump up", "jump down", "lay down", "sit like a prairie dog" and "no" -- are all commands faithfully excecuted.
This has required CONSTANT verbal commands, ROUTINE activities, and REPETITION of both -- on Einstein's part; and mostly "fun" on my part.
TREATS were useful with Einstein, only to introduce behavioral concepts, but love and affection are the ultimate reward based system -- salted with consistent verbal expressions -- to express "displeasure" and "warning" -- like a firm "No!". And remembering, each time, "Your desired results WILL vary!"
Einstein has a range of natural body language and audible expressions -- to communicate everything he needs or wants -- from "going outside" -- to "may I have a dog treat" -- to "I want YOU to pet ME"!
He is in fact an embodiment of "Love" and "Joy" -- and a Gift from God; And then, there is "hunting"...
Above all else, Einstein is a hunter -- which has constant propensity for TROUBLE! He is a renowned hunter, easily catching rodents -- up to half his size -- numbering in the double digits each year. He also has a nasty habit of "cruising culverts" -- where skunks live. Fortunately, his legs are too short to catch a rabbit -- but that does not keep him from trying -- nor diminish the thrill of the chase! Hunting is an actiivity somewhat controlled by his electronic collar; but once the chase in on -- forget it!
Einstein has no fear. He once confronted a 10 point stag -- one early morning in our flower garden -- who would not back down. I had to intervene -- with (of all the things I could have chosen) an umbrella -- in my pajamas -- to finally grab Einstein (EE: to save the buck).
Below
are pictures of the buck jumping Einstein's fence (EE: In humiliation). By the way, this "slow motion" is a great example of what we can do with DAI™ Technology -- to tell YOUR story -- of things that happen quick!
In real life, Einstein is something of a local celebrity, in our little mountain town -- of 300 people. Known by name -- by one and all -- Einstein is loved -- by the children and adults alike; With the exception of "those crazy cats"!
Local stores welcome Einstein -- to ride in their shopping carts. Most of the time he is standing on his hind paws -- thrashing the air with his front paws -- beckoning affections -- of people he knows -- or wants to befriend!
One store has even gifted him is own "little red riding" cushion, reporting that people are always "asking for him" -- in his absence.
Employment History:
According to Einstein, (quote) a " Golden " Morkie is a very rare breed, with silky fine hair of golden hue -- and " extremely " high intelligence (end quote).
Einstein applied for Mark-up Editor, based on his " Diversified Inter-species Communication " skills (i.e., his words not mine) -- demonstrated by his ability to " mark and bark and wag his tail -- all at the same time -- standing on three legs " !
No other candidate, including human applicants, could demonstrate this diversified skill-set, so he was hired.
Einstein's job is to make our website " Morkie friendly " (i.e., Morkies are bred to be both " friendly " and " fun " ) and to tone-down -- what he calls -- Geek Speak™ .
Since being hired, Einstein has changed his original title to "Directory of Marking", stating that "Mark-up Editor" was too confusing to most four legged readers -- who always "mark down" -- in the direction of gravity. Marking-up simply never occurs in nature.
What can I say? He has a point!
Einee (i.e., short for Einstein) is now in training -- thus the " EE and DD training notes " .
Meanwhile we are all learning to speak less " geek " -- and more " Morkie " -- which Einstein clams to be a universal language of FUN and HAPPY THOUGHTS!
Under his written contract (that was a BIG mistake), he is free to "mark-down" things as long as he 'marks " them -- with a his "mark" -- EE: (for Einstein's Edits).
FYI: I am DD: -- for Dog Daddy.
One of Einstein's projects was to make "Show and Hide Details" more "Morkie" friendly.
Spelling is not a Morkie's strong suite.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Why did the chicken cross the road?
Affectionately called, "The Boys", Einstein was raised with a 20 pound tom cat, named Jessie. Jessie, ironically, taught Einee to chase "other tom cats" -- out of the yard! Jessie found Einstein to be a "quick study" -- which more or less -- just allowed Jessie to relax in his latter years -- to let Einstein -- enthusiastically -- do the "heavy chasing".
Einstein and Jessie also had a "pet chicken", named "Hen-rietta"; until we realized -- "Hen-rietta" was a "Hen-ry". They both LOVED Hen-ry!
This is NO CHICKEN JOKE!
We met Hen-ry, while "jeeping" at about 9,000 feet, on a high mountain forest trail, in the wilderness -- way beyond -- the middle of nowhere. As we came off a switch-back, this "chicken" struts across the road -- like in a "chicken joke" -- seemingly, to solicit attention.
When we stopped -- to "check out the chicken" -- he circled the jeep. To our surprise, after we got OUT of the jeep, Hen-ry jumped INTO the jeep -- as if he had done it a hundred times. He immediately took up a roosting position -- on the back seat -- like he knew the drill -- and he was "ready to go"!
We had been "jeep jacked"-- by a chicken!
Being that Hen-ry was in an area lush -- with bobcats, bears, cougars, and coyotes -- we did not feel comfortable -- kicking him out -- to continue fending for himself.
In fact, it seemed Hen-ry was saying, "I'm fed up -- being down -- on the bottom of the food chain"!
So, we headed home -- "asking the question" -- "why did the chicken cross the road" -- beyond the middle of nowhere? The short answer, even to this day -- seems to be -- to "jeep jack" -- our jeep!
Hen-ry seemed very comfortable "riding" -- even looking both ways at the intersection.
Not knowing the first thing about chickens, on the way home, we thought we had found a "hen" chicken. For lack of creative thinking, we dubbed "her" -- "Hen-rietta".
At home, we found Einee's wire travel cage, and picked-up "Hen-rietta", like a dog, and set "her" in the cage, with water and "bird seed" -- and covered "her" with a towel - for the night. I peaked under the towel, and "Hen-rietta" had closed "her" eyes -- and was sound asleep.
Next morning, "she" was still sound asleep! I rolled her outside, removing the towel, and to my surprise -- "she" --started crowing! We quickly "re-hyphenated" -- "Hen-rietta" to "Hen-ry"!
.
Both "our boys" were immediately fascinated by Hen-ry. Only once did Einee stick his nose inside the cage, to smell Hen-ry . Quicker than a blink, Hen-ry gave him a "precision pin-point peck" -- right on the end of his nose -- which sent him yelping. From then on, Hen-ry "ruled the roost".
I read on the Internet that chickens eat "bugs" -- not "bird seed". Noting there were no "bugs" in the refrigerator, I decided to open the cage door -- and let Hen-ry roam the yard -- where a bounty of bugs abode. This was my first act of "rooster ranching", and there was a moment of reservation -- that Hen-ry might "fly the coop" -- and the yard.
Surprisingly, with the door wide opened, Hen-ry did NOT want to leave the cage! So, I set the cage in the grass, under the trees -- where I knew he would eventually spy a "bug". Sure enough, Hen-ry was soon doing "chicken" things under the trees.
All the while "the boys" watched from a window inside the house -- passively, like watching ravens in the yard -- which was common place. In fact, both boys were quite casual about walking the fence line -- while "big black" ravens -- perched above them -- on the posts.
After letting "the boys" watch for a while, I released Jessie -- who had become "bored" with the whole situation. I then released Einstein -- who literally knowing "the pecking order" -- very cautiously, began to follow Hen-ry around the yard. To my surprise, Hen-ry became curious about "both boys", too, and, well, "odd-felllow" bonding began.
Einee "sniffed' Hen-ry -- "post-humorously"(is that even a word?) -- "like another dog" -- ONCE!
To Einee's surprise -- Hen-ry chased him in circles -- pecking Einee's "tail feather" -- returning one "not too neighborly gesture" -- for another . After all, Hen-ry was a "high mountain", "back woods" rooster -- who did NOT take kindly -- to "a cold nose -- stuck in his business"!
Again, boundaries were set, and Hen-ry "ruled" -- crowing -- to trumpet triumph.
After a while, all "the boys" worked things out. Hen-ry even followed Jessie, for a time, and to Hen-ry's surprise, Jessie, a 20 pound cat, just rolled over on his back -- in submission -- to a "chicken"!
Hen-ry, then, just wondered off -- looking for someone smaller to "bug" -- or just a smaller "bug" -- leaving Jessie to "sun himself" -- on his back -- on the sidewalk.
I'll never cease to be amazed at the "odd-fellow" friendship that developed among such unlikely yard-mates; but the picture below is proof of what I say.
The photo is also "proof" -- if you look closely -- that "chickens DO eat bugs! Just "hover" your curser or finger over the picture -- to see for yourself!
Above: Einee, Jessie, and Hen-ry -- "the ant eater".
The bucket of water and the broom, are also proof -- that Hen-ry needed "potty training"! Yes, Hen-ry ate a LOT of BUGS -- and re-deposited them -- on the sidewalk!
I was "wearing out all our brooms" -- scrubbing the sidewalk -- and the fun of being a "rooster rancher" -- was tuning into the reality -- of "rooster ranching work"!
What Happened To Hen-ry?
A week or two later, at the Farmers' Market, we heard a rumor from the"melon man", that the "egg lady " said, the "goat cheese lady" said -- she "NEEDED A ROOSTER" -- for her hen-house -- in the great plains of New Mexico!
Yes, gossip travels fast in a small town farmer's market -- where not only do people KNOW -- each other, and KNOW -- their kids, but also KNOW -- their dogs, cats, cows -- AND CHICKENS!
After yet another jeep riding adventure, Hen-ry is today -- cock of his own (side) walk -- "living the life"!
Just another "high mountain chicken" -- "gone to the Great Plains" -- success story .

Why Video Master™ files are IMPORTANT!
Liberated and Liberated Color Emended™ Video Master™ files are MADE -- from your OLD Motion Picture Media -- which is going bad and / or obsolete.
Liberated™ and Liberated Color Emended™ Video Master™ files will be the "closest thing to" -- your OLD Motion Picture Media".
When you "upgrade" your videos, you are "burning the bridge" -- to your OLD Motion Picture Media. You do want to be happy with what you have -- on this side -- of the "burned bridge".
For Example:
If ALL your OTHER Video Products were lost
Your Video Master™ files -- can completely re-created -- every OTHER video product you have lost -- as good as they ever were.
However, NO OTHER video product
You want to protect and clone your Video Master™ files -- at all cost
The Commercial and Legal Importance of Master™ files:
Video Master™ files are so IMPORTANT...
If we omitted making Video Master™ files -- for a Commercial Client --
AND ONLY GAVE THEM A DVD
Why?
In 2007, The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) banned the use of Recordable "dye based" DVD discs for all Federal Records and
recommended that public NOT rely on Recordable "dye based" DVD disc for data preservation.
According to NARA, Recordable "dye based" DVD discs could fail in 1 to 5 years after being 'burned".
Thus giving a client ONLY a Recordable "dye based" DVD disc --
Consumer Beware:
Public Video Preservation Services "like"
OMIT making Video Master™ files.
If ALL YOU HAVE is a DVD from a company 'like" one above, you should check your DVD, and if it still works, get it to me for Liberation and Liberated Color Emending™ Services. Not only will your video be "saved", it will be THE BEST IT CAN BE1
Now that you know how important a Video Master™ file is -- What is it?!
Read on.
What Is a Video Master™ file?
Much like the little film strip above...
A "Video Master™ file" -- is "like" -- an entire "digital reel" of motion pictures
In a "Video Master™ file",each "complete picture" is
Because there are so many complete, data rich pictures, Master Video Files are very BIG files. To place this size in every day terms
Video Master™ files are --
Because of their massive sizes, Video Master™ files work on Mac and PC computers
Video Master™ files are TOO BIG. TOO DATA RICH to work...
For these reasons, we are very selective about choosing Video Master™ files -- that WILL work -- with MOST Mac and PC computers -- YOU and your family -- might own.
We are also experts in "matching" OLD legacy media to the correct video format -- to clone the OLD images without introducing "unnecessary" digital artifacts.
Video Master™ file Theory:
In Theory...
Caution:
Miss-matching a Video Master™ file -- to its original video source -- most especially MOVIE FILM -- or Video MADE FROM MOVIE FILM -- risks the creation of "digital blocking" within the image. More below.
For Example:
Below is a model showing how movie film works.
Ideally "image-points" like
SHOULD DIGITIZE INTO
When one "image-point" is digitized into
"Line doubling" or "Hyper-formatting" occurs.
Spreading "too little" image over "too much" video format" is like
All expectations -- of a quality experience -- go unsatisfied.
As Shown below...
Pixel Geometry:
Line doubling or Hyper-formatting has diminishing returns.
A one-to-one -- "image-point" to pixel -- relationship -- is THE BEST WAY -- to create a "clean", "garbage free" digital images -- in a Video Master™ file.
My (hand written) graphic starts on the left with a single-point pixel -- which symbolizes a SINGLE "RGB pixel" cluster.
Pixel "doubling" progress as follows:
As you can see, doubling a pixel only 4 times -- creates a "digital block" artifact.
Digitizing a tiny 8mm image -- or video CAPTURED FROM an 8MM IMAGE -- directly into a 4K video format -- will create digital block artifacts -- because "pixel doubling" must be done 5 TIMES!
Companies who practice HYPER-FORMATING™ , have to use Anti-aliasing technology to off-set these artifacts -- creating a "flat looking" image.
Your OLD legacy Image details are lost TWICE, once when "hyper-formatting" and once in the "Anti-aliasing".
We "best match" an 8mm image to a "video Master™ file" -- to preserve the original image detail -- then Dual-pass render a video image -- to preserve "Master™ file quality" detail -- for 4K display.
YOU DESERVE THE BEST!™
Recognize any "digital block" artifacts -- in the image below?
Crushing™ Video (i.e., Very Lossy Compression)
Digital Block Artifacts can occur,
CRUSHING VIDEO
Should be YOUR GREATEST CONCERN -- using a Video "Capture" service -- with last century technology.
Example: Crushing 120 minutes of Video8 tape or VHS tape (up to 26 Gb) -- onto an 80 minute DVD (only 4.7 Gb) -- is COMMON PRACTICE.
A layman, might say, "Stuffing 26 pounds of video -- into a 4.7 pound bag"!
Again, you get something that looks "like" the photo above.
IN SUMMARY:
YOU DESERVE THE BEST!™
ALL film schools and film professionals measure "film resolution" in terms of "lines" -- using a system called the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF).
MTF is "the industry standard" for quality control and measurement "of film ". It is also used to compare "film " to "digital" formats.
The size of silver halide grains determines MTF; however, only the one dimensional edge -- where shadow meets light -- contributes "detail data" to MTF. Thus, finer grain patterns offer a richer MTF.
LINES OF RESOLUTION as a Modulation Transfer Function (MTF)
FIGURE 1: "EIA Resolution Chart 1956"
Licensed under Public Domain via Wikimedia Commons
The converging lines (above) measure resolution -- as view thru a camera. Where the lines BLUR resolution is lost.
This chart shows the limitation of TV in 1956; but is still relevant, because most NTSC Interlace Scan Video, comes out of the NTSC Interlace Scan Video era -- which did not change until after 2005 -- when the new standards for HDTV broadcast -- were both finalized and realized as real TV sets.
The OLD NTSC standard was Horizontal Interlaced Scan Lines -- 240 odd and 240 even -- for a total resolution of 480 lines vertical resolution.
"Movie Film Capture" and "Video Capture" studios are STILL using Technology of this era.
Final Note: In spreading 480 lines of video over 2160 lines of a 4K Display , 5 "line doubling" are required -- and will create "digital block artifacts" -- if done incorrectly.

DAI™ (i.e., pronounced "day") is core to Video Liberation™ and Liberated Color Emending™ .
DAI™ (i.e., "day") is an advanced digital modeling algorithm, that supplements mathematical gaps in a 2-Dimensional Geometric Plane -- or in this case -- in a 2-Dimensional Video Frame -- or Photo.
DAI™ also creates "full frames" of video by Interpellating time and motion properties from surrounding video frames -- "kind a like" -- the creation of P-Frames and B-Frames in Dual-pass Rendering a Group of Pictures (more on this later).

Streaming Video™ THE Product™ and Video Streaming™ THE Service™ :
Video Master™ files are made of ALL Full-frame Full-resolution Progressive Scan video pictures. Video Master™ files -- the way they should we make them, the way they should be made -- are simply too massive -- too data rich -- to play over the Internet.
For you to see -- and approve -- YOUR video over the Internet, we convert Video Master™ files into Liberated™ Streaming Video™ THE Product™ files -- which serve as a "proxy" for the Master™ files
DAI™ is also integral to
Finally, DAI™ is integral to MY Pre-production Processing.
I have a big bag of cross-discipline "Tricks of these Trades" -- also called "Experience".
I use these "Tricks of the Trade" to "setup" a Client's images -- to give them the "unfair advantage" -- that DAI™ can maximize in Post-production -- for both sound and image IMPROVEMENTS™.
YOU DESERVE THE BEST!
For Example: "Trick of the Trade"
Like all things Sony, Sony had their own way of synchronizing audio with video.
As a Pre-production procedure, I override synchronization and timing parameters -- in the DAI™ UI --- to keep Sony Video8 and Hi8 audio "lip synced" -- with its own video.
This gets "tricky" when synchronizing 60 NTSC Interlace fields per second into -- 30 full-frames of Progressive Scan Video per second.
Most pharmacies can't do this, but you are free to ask.
This Pre-production "trick" dovetails into DAI™ Post-production Technology -- for the perfect Liberated Video Master™ file -- in Progressive Scan Video -- from Sony Video8 and Hi8 interlace Scan videos.
The result is Video -- that looks "near color rich" as movie film -- with great sounding, precision synchronized audio!
Commercial clients demand perfect results!
YOU DESERVE THE BEST!
Give Us YOUR Best; to GET The BEST!
We can ReMaster™ Interlace Scan Video to Progressive Scan Video from 3 Types of Moving Pictures
It is important that you send us YOUR BEST; in order for us to give you OUR BEST!
DAI™ works better with "original", 1st Generation video -- like the original video shot on a camcorder. This is most especially OLD analogue tapes.
If you have 2 video tapes (for example), then it is better to send them both -- in separate shipments -- so we can evaluate them both for quality. Some times, we have had to use "both" tapes -- to get one complete video.
We do NOT recommend Anti-aliasing on OLD video "copies". Anti-aliasing attempts to "blend" the "jagged edges" (i.e., jaggies) to form a straight line. Unfortunately, Anti-aliasing comes at a price of "lost resolution" to the overall picture.
Anti-aliasing is also used to "mask" video that has been Hyper-formatted (i.e., shooting tiny 8mm film with large 4K cameras). This filtering technique leave the video "flat looking". More on this subject later.

Discussion:
DAI™ is a modern video synchronization technology that

Which is another way to say:
EE: Which is "Geek Speak" for
Restoring the "lost time" in video -- is called Video Prolongation™
EE: That's "geek speak" meaning: If a dog biscuit is "dropped" -- in both the video and in real life -- it will hit the ground at the same time -- unless, of course, I catch it mid-air!
This "lost time" is very REAL.
What Prolongation Means to YOU
If you have 4 hours of "old 8 mm movie films" on VIDEO; you actually have 5 hours of "old 8 mm movie films" on VIDEO!
What you do not realize is, you actually LOST 15 minutes per hour -- in the movie film to video -- video "capture" synchronization -- typical of ALL Telecine Scanners.
That means, YOU have LOST 1 whole hour of viewing time -- because things, people, and TIME -- are moving too fast -- in your "captured video".
If that "time" is -- THE TIMES OF YOUR LIFE -- YOUR LIFE AND TIMES -- that you want to "share" with your kids and grand kids -- 1 hour is a BIG LOSS!
Not only do you NOW have to watch 4 hours of people moving around "TOO FAST", but you have been robbed of the "real time" experience -- of "being there" -- in "real time" -- with with people you love -- people who are no long here. Re-living time with them -- is NOT something you want to rush!
After all, how much would you give -- just to spend another hour with any of them?
Finding an HOUR -- of "real time" -- Adds Value-to-Video™ -- For a Difference YOU can FEEL!™
NOTE: 6 hours of video FROM Super 8 film -- has a 1 hour of "lost time". Video Prolongation™ would also restore "high pitched" voices -- "captured" FROM Super 8 SOUND film -- to "natural pitch".
True-to-Life Time is restored -- extending the "distorted time" to "real-time".
EE: That's "geek speak" meaning: A 45 minute training video -- originally from movie film -- about "chasing cats"-- is restored to 60 minutes -- same as "chasing cats" in "real life"!
Using DAI™ , True-to-Life™ Motion restored to all your NEW video products.
For Example:
"Real-motion" and "Real-time" (i.e., video playing time) are ALWAYS tied together.
Most 8mm movie film, is synchronized on OLD Telecine Scanners, at 20 frames per second; HOWEVER, what you many not know, is the original 8mm movie film was designed to play at ONLY 16 frames per second.
EE: That is "Geek Speak" for your video has a BIG PROBLEM -- TWICE!
Telecine Scanners introduced roughly a 25% "real-time" and "real-motion" distortion.
That is "Geek Speak" for -- people, things, and TIME -- are moving WAY TOO FAST!
Also "real-time" "playing-time" ends up 25%, too soon!
That is "Geek Speak" for -- same 60 minutes of "movie film" -- now plays on "video" -- in 45 minutes -- and ends too soon!
Neither of these "time" and "motion" distortions" -- were in your original "8mm movie film".
Same is true for most Silent 16mm movie film.
Super 8 film has a 10% Time / Motion -- and SOUND-- distortion.
EE: That is "Geek Speak" for -- Super 8 movie film run "kind a" fast, but can sound like a bunch of "talking chipmunks".
True-to-Life™ Motion: What it means to YOU
Early last decade, the video below was "captured" using OLD last century "Telecine Scanner" technology -- and WAS originally 25% faster.
Last century, Grandfather looked like a " bucking bronco " -- trying to kill his grandson.
Today, in decade Era 2020™ -- after being Liberated Color Emended™ using DAI™ you can now see -- how careful -- and how gentle -- Grandpa was -- and how much he loved his grandson.
FYI: I have footage of him standing on his head at 80 years old!
This is Added Value-to-Video™ -- For a Difference YOU can SEE!™
YOU DESERVE THE BEST!
As we approach decade 2020 -- with 4K and 8K video displays --
This is because the "line doubling" technology makes Interlace Scan Lines "fatter" -- in order to fill up (for example) a HDTV (1080i lines) or 4K display (2160p) -- with only 250 interchanging scan lines (480 total). In the case of 4K, it ONLY displays Progressive Scan video -- and thus "digital blocking" is inevitable in many areas of the image are inevitable.
Solution #1: Back-off across the room to watch OLD legacy video -- like setting in the center of a theater -- not the front row.
Solution #2: DAI™ takes care of the problem -- BEFORE it becomes a problem -- by converting Interlace Scan Video to Progressive Scan video.
The "simple simulation" below demonstrates the differences among
Below:
As if REFRESH was not enough of a problem, when lines in video are NOT exactly horizontal to the scan lines in the physical display, "twitter" becomes a problem. The Example below demonstrates this problem with "converging lines". (which is MOST of the time).
The "simulation" above demonstrates the differences among 6 video samplings.
Top: Left to Right ( Original Resolutions)
It also demonstrates interline twitter (flashing) associated with Interlaced Scan video.
By Columns:
The TOP LEFT image is what YOU can have, if you Wise-UP™ to DAI™
The TOP MIDDLE
is what YOU have now.
The TOP RIGHT is what you can expect to see -- with what you have now -- using line-doubling technology -- on most DVD players on HDTV sets.
BOTTOM ROW: Spatial Anti-aliasing is filtering technique for "smoothing" the "jagged edges" of Interlace Scan Lines. Spatial Anti-aliasing is not something we want to do, unless absolutely necessary -- as you can see above, there is a "trade off".
Studios that Hyper-format tiny 8mm films to huge 4K video format -- must use some Spatial Anti-aliasing "like" filter -- to off-set digital "block artifacts" -- due to excessive "line doubling".

A "mechanical" technology for displaying "chemically developed" MOVING PICTURES.
The displayed images were actually "shadows" surrounded by "colored light". If you have ever watched "shadow puppets" in a "light box" then you have an idea of "how" movie film works.
I offer a tutorial on "How Movie Film Works" -- on my website www.Film-to-Video.com.
Movie film was invented in the early 1900's era and pre-date ALL video and digital Motion Picture technologies.

DD: OK, I confess, I am a Computer Scientist and Internet Media Specialist -- biased by my attempt to offer good and honest people -- like YOU -- an alternative to "social media".
Therefore I must "recuse myself" from answering this question.
But, here's Einstein's opinion.
EE: This question is like asking, "Is sitting on a cactus safe"?
Well, the correct answer is, "SAFE-- is relative to COST AND BENIFITS".
Compared to sitting in the middle of the rail road tracks when a train is coming, sitting on a cactus will not kill you; but you may wish it had.
But just because you can "sit on rail road tracks" or "sit on a cactus" -- does NOT mean you should do either-- which means -- neither seems to have a benefit.
As for the cat, he got his "just desert" -- for for telling me to "sit" -- while I was standing in front of a cactus!
Bottom Line:
NEVER PUT ALL YOUR EGGS IN A SOCIAL MEDIA BASKET.
Share OLD legacy photos and video -- like salt; not the main course.
And always wag your tail!

Group Of Pictures (GOP) Mapping and Creation
Dual-pass Video Rendering
The Group Of Pictures (GOP) below -- are the product of Dual-pass Rendering (DPR) .
DPR gives you superior "action video" -- on HD 4K and 8K displays -- using full and partial video frame technology.
I encourage you to take a moment and "study" the GOP below -- of the Pac-Man frames -- showing the Pac-Man "eating dots".
Most especially -- notice the P-Frame and B-Frame -- which are the frames Dual-pass Rendering adds to you Liberated Color Emended™ video -- to make the action video of "eating dots" -- much smoother.
See Demonstration of Pac-Man Game Here
OLD legacy video does NOT have P-Frames and B-Frames; only the I-Fames (i.e., full-frames of video).
Only Dual-pass Rendering (not Single-pass Rendering) creates the P-Frame and B-Frames
By adding P-Frames and B-Frames -- made from BEFORE AND AFTER I-Frame(s)
Used by last century
does NOT create the P-Frame and B-Frames on a DVD.
Each "full-frame" of video is Very LOSSY Compressed into an I-Frame. This is called "Crushing Video" .
Dual-pass Rendered (DPR) creates "partial frames" -- P-Frames and B-Frames -- for optical discs and Internet Streaming.
The GOP -- Group Of Pictures (below) -- shows a motion sequence. The individual frames of pictures are grouped together (called a group of pictures, or GOP) and played back so that the viewer's mind registers the videos spatial motion (e.g., the moving dots -- in the Pac-Man example) below.
I-Frames -- aka (also known as) Intra-Frame or Keyframe.
An I-Frame is a single frame of digital video -- that the Dual-pass Compressor examines -- independent of all the other frames -- that precede and follow it. The Dual-pass Compressor maps and stores ONLY the data needed to display that one frame.
With Dual-pass Rendering, ONLY the NEEDED full-frame I-Frames are preserved -- and the UN-NEEDED duplicate full-frames of video become P-Frames and B-Frames. If video production units are limited to roughly 60 to 80 minutes, the result is video -- AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL Master™ file.
Typically, I-frames are interspersed with P-frames and B-frames in Dual-pass Compressed video -- to maintain both
The more I-Frames used -- the more physical space is required to store them. Digital data takes up more storage space than Analogue data.
A typical 4.7 Gb DVD disc -- Dual-pass Rendered -- from a 1 hour "Master™ file" will rival the Master™ file.
Obviously, the 12 Gb of digital data must be
-- COMPRESSED -- to fit on a 4.7Gb single-sided DVD disc.
If Dual-pass Rendering uses Liberated and Liberated Color Emended™ "Master™ files" -- which are ReColorized and ReEngineered -- as Progressive Scan Video -- then the results can be BIGGER and BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL.
Crushing Video vs Compressing Video
A typical "Video Capture" studio "Rips" 2 hours of VHS tape onto a 4.7 Gb DVD disc -- using a Tape-to-DVD Recorder or Telecine Scanner.
This means, 24Gb worth of digital video is -- VERY LOSSY COMPRESSED -- onto a 4.7 Gb single-sided DVD disc.
This is called "Crushing Video", because
For the "commercial client" this would be damaging to their video and grounds for legal action.
For the "public consumer" (i.e., single mother or minority shopper) this is business as usual.
P-Frames -- aka Delta frames.
P-Frames always follow I-frames and contain only the data that have changed from the preceding I-frame (such as color or content (e.g., like the 3 dots) changes). Because of this, P-frames depend on the preceding I-frames to fill in most of the data.
B-Frames -- aka Delta frames
.
B-Frames rely on both the frames preceding and following them. B-frames contain only the data that have changed from the preceding frame or are different from the data in the very next frame.
WARNING: The Downside of Video Capture (i.e., Video Ripping)
Video Captured or Ripped -- using a Tape-to-DVD recorder or Telecine Scanner -- Rips and Strips each video field (not frame) -- one-by-one, field-by-field -- in Single-pass processing. There is NOT Group of Pictures processing aka NO Dual-pass Rendering.
With Video Capture (i.e., Ripping and Stripping Video), there is
In the end, YOU have only a "temporary" DVD-R disc
What all this means is,
Example:
In a "typical" Tape-to-DVD Video Capture, video from a 120 minute VHS tape -- is "Ripped and Stripped" (i.e., crushed) -- onto a smaller 80 minute DVD disc.
When you consider that "digital video" -- takes up MORE space -- than "analogue video", then
In layman's terms, this is "crushing" 10 pounds of video into a 5 pound bag!

Most people confuse
They think BETTER DISC QUALITY means LONGER DATA LIFE
In Fact:
What YOU Need to Know:
The following are the foremost internationally recognized authorities on data storage (i.e., data archiving):
Both these Federal agencies BANNED Recordable DVD discs -- for Long Term Data Storage -- last decade -- and they continue their ban to this present day.
The NARA optical disc ban took place 1 month after
The Library of Congress also rejected DVD-R discs for long term storage, too.
M-Disc is now EXEMPT from this "ban"; however,
M-Disc is included in the DVD Technology DEATH Shift -- now caused by SSD and Flash drives -- and Streaming Video™ THE Product™ over the Internet.
M-Disc will NOT save the DVD Industry -- when M-Disc is more expensive that a flash drive of the same data capacity -- which needs no "video player hardware".
NOTICE: We "burn" thousands of Recordable DVD discs each year -- including M-Disc;
However, we provided our clients with DIVERSIFIED "long term data storage" solutions -- with the warning that Recordable DVD disc are" for FUN -- but have no FUTURE".
Most "Video Capture" companies do NOT do this, because DVD is their medium of choice -- MEANING: Their only CHOICE.
Lie #2
WRONG! Ignorance WILL killed your priceless videos!
Data Life -- On Recordable DVD discs
The life "expectancy" of YOUR DATA -- stored on a "dye based" Recordable DVD disc...
No one can predict the effect of
"Off-the-shelf" means -- "available in most stores -- from their inventory of products which they keep "on their shelves". Thus they sell products "off-the-shelf".
Example of Usage:
You can buy a DVD Recorder and blank DVD-R discs "off-the-shelf" from Wal-mart or Best Buy.
Therefore the "Data Life"-- of the YOUR DATA -- is never warranted -- by ANY"dye based" DVD Disc manufacture.
This is because
RELIABLE SOURCES OF "DATA LIFE" INFORMATION:
In my professional opinion -- as a Computer Scientist and Data Archivist -- If you rely on computer magazines -- which make their money from selling advertisements -- to media and equipment retailers and manufactures -- YOUR DATA IS LOST!
In my professional opinion -- as a Computer Scientist and Data Archivist -- the MOST RELYABLE INFORMATION ON "DATA LIFE"-- professionally called "Data Longevity" -- comes from experts in the Data Archive Industry.
These organizations are actually responsible -- if not liable -- for the "DATA LIFE" of their own data -- and for the "DATA LIFE" of their fellow agencies or clients.
The following are the foremost Data Life Archive Authorities in the world.
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)
NARA banned the use of Recordable DVD disc for long term Federal data storage; and, advising the public to do the same.
The Library of Congress (LC)
The Library of Congress follows NARA Guidelines.
The TLC rejected The Final Report: (of) The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study. Yes, that study was done specifically for LC.
IBM (International Business Machines)
In 2005, IBM announced an unfavorable opinion on Recordable Optical Disc -- only a few months after The Relative Stabilities Of Optical Disc Formats Study -- by Joe Iraci.

2005: Relative Stabilities Of Optical Disc Formats by Joe Iraci
SUMMARY:
The Optical Disc longevity study found that 92 percent of ALL DVD-R discs tested -- FAILED the longevity tests -- due to discoloration in the "layer of dye". Test revealed that dye are unstable -- over time -- as influence only by heat and moisture -- using the Eyring Method.
After Iraci's Study, in 2005, IBM Germany, most of Europe, and Canada realized that Recordable Optical Discs -- in general -- were NOT a reliable media for long term data storage. IBM publicly decried Optical discs in favor of Magnetic tape, which is still (in the Era 2020™) the archive medium of choice for the Computer Industry.
Relative Stabilities Of Optical Disc Formats by Joe Iraci preceded and confirmed NARA's (2007) decision (more below) to ban ALL Recordable Optical Discs for storing Federal Records.
NOTE: I found Iraci's study in the references on NARA's website, specifically on the page reviewing Optical Disc Longevity. This study chronologically preceded the NIST / LC Study (below) and was foundational to defining "The Problem" -- which prompted the NIST / LC Study's quest for a hollow solution.
You may read the Iraci Study using the link below. Your feedback is welcomed.

Table 2: PI analysis of DVD MOVIE DISC aged for 84 days
Table 2 will NOT fit on page 144 -- where it logically belongs; so beware,
A casual, non-technical reader, may try to associate findings in Table 2 (about Read-only MOVIE discs) -- with DVD-R disc -- and accidently NOT realize the disastrous effect that aging has -- on DVD-R discs; and,
Worse yet, the casual reader may even conclude DVD-R discs have "long term data storage potential".
2007: Final Report: The NIST / Library of Congress Optical Disc Longevity Study
SUMMARY:
A joint study of The National Institute of Science (NIST) and Technology and The Library of Congress (LC or TLC)
The study revealed why Recordable Optical Disc failed on average -- within 1 to 5 years.
A longevity solution was found, however, (in retrospect) the global DVD Disc and DVD Recorder Industry were unreceptive to "Standardization" of Optical Disc Recorders or to "stricter standards in DVD disc manufacturing".
In layman's terms, "The operation was a success, but the patient died".

National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Ban On Recordable DVD Discs

NARA Advised the public to avoid using Recordable Optical disc for long term data storage; however,
Public Video Preservation Services "like"
seem to have ignored the ban -- making Recordable DVD discs the primary medium offered in their Public Video Preservation Services.
Disc Life (not YOUR DATA'S LIFE)
Is the theoretical life of an "unrecorded", "virgin" Recordable DVD discs.
Any warranty on disc life (not YOUR DATA'S LIFE) -- is voided -- once data is recorded onto the disc.
Disc Life (not YOUR DATA'S LIFE) is marketing "solicitation" by DVD manufactures -- which is "pimped" by consumer "trade and trash" magazines -- who make their money by sell advertising to media and equipment manufactures.
There is NO "higher authority" to which these manufactures answer-- for their claims of disc life (not YOUR DATA'S LIFE) .
Words used in advertising -- for branding "dye based" Recordable Discs --
are used (in my opinion) to obstruct public warnings by NARA, and other archive authorities.
NO MARKETING HYPE will change the fact that Recordable "dye based" optical discs -- should NOT be used -- for "long term data storage".
3 Types of DVD Discs -- You Need To Know About

THE BIG "CON" IN THE Controversy
There has been an ongoing battle about the "data longevity" of Recordable DVD discs for over a decade.
NOW, entering the Era 2020™, "data life" expectancy has decreased to "about a year".
Recordable DVD "data longevity" affects
This PROBELM IS VERY BIG!
Consumer retailers and Consumer Video Preservation Services" -- "like"
use Recordable DVD disc as their primary medium for Consumer Video Presentation Services.
On the other hand, two of the utmost experts in Data and Video Preservationist are the
Both these institutions have banned the use of Recordable DVD for storing Federal Records, including Video -- since October, 2007, That same ban seems destined to continue into decade 2020.
IBM, also an expert in the Data Preservation Business, has stated they do not rely on optical discs for long term storage.
As a Computer Scientist,I have NEVER endorse "dye based" Recordable DVD disc for long term storage.
Because of the current Technology DEATH Shift in the optical disc industry, I can not indorse M-Disc -- for long term storage -- because the future of DVD Payers may have the same end a CD Disc players.
For that reason, I have develope a diversified product line -- and archive strategy-- which includes multiple layers of redundancy -- consistent with NARA and LC Guidelines.
The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study
Revealed a...
A BIG PROBLEM:
The average "data life"-- of a RECORDABLE optical disc -- in 2007 -- was 1 to 5 years
"Off-the-Shelf" means -- product inventories available "off-the-shelves" of retail and wholesale distributors -- to the public, to industry, and to State and Federal governments.
The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study -- was the "last straw"of hope -- before the entire world pulled the plug on Recordable Optical Disc (i.e., DVD-R) as a long term storage medium.
Bottom Line:
In 2007, the Federal Government pulled the plug on the use of Recordable DVD discs -- for long term data storage.
DVD FACT 1: DVD Recorders Kill DVD Longevity
The NIST / LC study disclosed that DVD RECORDERS have no standardized method -- to record data to an optical disc; therefore, every Optical Disc RECORDER MANUFACTURER is "doing their own thing"-- using their own method -- to "record data" -- to "off-the-shelf" discs -- available to the public.
Key to non-standardization is "the problem" inherent to write data -- and handling recording errors -- to a "spinning spiral" track (above) -- explained later; and most especially if a disc was not spinning 'perfectly" -- without any "wobble" (below) -- like a tire out of balance.
In Layman's Terms:
A "data block error" is a "digital scratch" (i.e., garbage data) -- written onto the data track.
A "data block error" is a discoloration -- in the "light sensitive" dye -- which must be "filtered" out of -- the stream of "good video data" -- just like " physical scratches" and "specks of dirt" are "filtered out" -- if you are lucky.
Unfortunately, cleaning the disc or even re-surfacing the disc -- will not remedy "data block errors".
"Data block errors" happen when, the laser is "misdirected" or "losses its place" -- and "misfires". The "misfire" burns "something" - "somewhere" -- in error . The result is "partial data" -- burned in the "right place"; or "full data" or "partial data" -- burned in the "wrong place".
With DVD-R discs, the most commonly used disc, there are no "re-dos" -- over an area which has already been "burned".
If the "erroneous data" is NOT "filtered out" of the video stream, you SEE unpredictable "things" like "data blocks" or "video tearing".
If the "erroneous data" IS "filtered out -- you may SEE a temporary "frame hesitation" or "a frozen frame" or "skipping frames".
In at worst case, ultimately, the DVD just refuses to play past a certain point -- and the overall movie content -- is ruined and lost.
DVD FACT 2: DVD Brands are NOT Equal; DVDs WITHIN a Brand are NOT Equal
The NIST / LC study also revealed that different "brands" of RECORDABLE optical disc -- are NOT created equal; and,
RECORDABLE discs
Have disc integrity (i.e., quality control) issues -- that varied significantly -- which can effect the "data life" -- of any given brand of optical disc.
DVD FACT 3: DVD Dyes -- Die!
Photo of "activated dye" in cross segment of a spiral data track.
Activated dye can be "correct data" or "data errors" -- from bad burns, or burns in the wrong place, or partial burns due to "wobble", etc.
The NIST / LC study revealed that AFTER the light sensitive dye in recordable disc is "activated" -- by laser recording -- the surrounding non-activated areas of dye -- begin to age rapidly (i.e., continue to turn dark) -- as if -- being slowly "activated" -- by moisture, temperature changes, raw light, handling, and pollution in the air -- if not by time itself and chemical "half-life" deterioration.
Aging in the study -- using the Eyring Aging Method -- tested only for 2 aging factors -- heat and moisture; and longevity findings were in (lies, darn lies, and) "Statistical" Eyring Years -- not "real life" years.
Manufactures' estimated "life" is for "shelf life" -- not "data life"; and any "data life" years is in "Eyring Years -- not "real years". Words like "archive", "gold", "millennium" are used to IMPLY some kind of 'long life", however, manufactures do NOT warranty "data life" -- because they do NOT know which "non-standardized" DVD Recorder will be used to "burn the disk".
IMPORTANT: Method of Testing in NIST / LC Study
First 5 brands of discs were selected and
Then, using the near-perfect discs" above,
NOTE: The results of this type "testing" in no ways reflects the results "We The People" get from
The Method of Testing:
In The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study the method of testing follows -- with errors and omissions -- for the sake of simplicity and brevity:
Specifically, I have focused on only Recordable DVD disc data -- which is the most relevant to most people in Era 2020. The study did in fact included ALL types of optical discs.
5 DVD discs brands -- were "pre-selected" -- in cooperation with DVD Industry representatives. The brands and criteria for selection were undisclosed, however, it is assumed that the best of the best brands were selected -- to maximize longevity tests.
Then a "special custom built" Optical Disc RECORDER STATION (e.g. like the diagram above) -- was built and calibrated -- to matched ONLY the 5 brands of pre-selected recordable DVD discs.
Only AFTER each brand of discs -- was culled of defective discs -- the "near perfect" remaining discs -- were RECORDED -- using the "specially custom built" Optical Disc RECORDER STATION.
The Final Report: of The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study reported,
These findings were in no way "for public use" because the public used
POST SCRIPT:
The next month, after the release of The Final Report: of The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study, NARA banned recordable DVD discs in all Federal Agencies.
The Library of Congress followed likewise -- rejected the findings of their own study -- and BANNED recordable DVD discs in The Library of Congress.
WARNING:
The Final Report: of The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study is STILL USED to sell DVD discs to the public --
Pictured: Disassembled optical disc recorder / player.
According to the NIST / LC Optical Disc Longevity Study:
When "off the shelf" DVD recorders are used to RECORD onto "off the shelf" -- "dye based"-- DVD-R discs, the DVD recorders create so many "data block (recording) errors" -- while recording to the DVD-R -- that the average DVD-R disc is on the brink of failure -- immediately after being recorded.
The diagram of a "recordable disc" (below) shows (E) the "laser recording" through (A) the "clear plastic layer" -- onto the the (B) "dye layer" of the disc.
Below is an actual picture of (B) "THE" SPIRAL DATA TRACK -- on an optical disc -- which is constantly spinning -- at high speed -- as a spiral (see below).
Again, magnify the photo (above) -- and (below) -- you can see both DATA and DATA ERRORS "burned" onto "the dye layer" of THE SPRIAL DATA TRACK.
Below you can see the RELATIVE SIZE of DATA -- and DATA ERRORS -- "burned" into THE DATA TRACK -- for various optical discs. There is much less "margin for error" on CD discs than for Blu-ray disc.
Bottom Line: Video data is represented as "dark" and "light" -- "on" and "off" - data bits.
So WHY WERE ALL "recordable" optical discs banned for"long terms data storage"?
THE SIMPLE PROBLEM:
Also IMAGIN if there is a side-to-side "wobble" in the track above
-- like an out-of-balance tire.
More about what causes "wobble" below.
TRY IT YOURSELF: Using your finger, pretend YOU are RECORDING DATA onto the black track (above).
Simply touch the center of the spiral -- and "trace" the black track -- until you reach the outside of the square.
If your finger wonders onto the white track, you have just "errored out" -- created a "data block error".
Now Comes The HARD Part:
Each time you "error out", you must start "recording again" -- beyond the point on the spiral track -- where you just "errored out".
Finding the new starting point is tricky!
Meanwhile, the spiral data track is constantly changing -- NOT waiting for you -- to "jump in".
The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study reported:
Effectively, Optical Disc RECORDERS are NOT TOO GOOD at "picking a RECORDING point" -- on a "spinning and wobbling spiral track" -- and THEN TRYING -- to "burning data" onto it -- without creating MORE "data block errors". Sometimes, multiple attempts must be made -- to record the same data "correctly".
The complexity of this logical / mechanical coordination was so complex -- that DVD Recorder manufactures NEVER AGREED -- on the "right way to do it", and thus a Unified Standard for "doing it" -- was never established -- leaving each DVD Recorder manufacturer -- to "do their own thing".
Garbage In; Garbage Out
When massive numbers of "Data errors" become mixed-up with the "good data", Optical Disc PLAYERS attempt to cull out these "data errors" -- to "find", "filter" and "use -- only the "good data" -- to play a continuous "stream of video".
If the data track is overwhelmed with "data errors" (i.e., garbage data), the video images suffers with
If the video stream -- from any one block of data -- becomes too polluted -- with "scratches" -- DIGITAL or PHYSICAL -- a "data block failure" occurs -- and the disc just stops playing past a certain point.
The effects of "Recording Errors" -- on "Data Longevity" -- WAS THE PROBLEM -- that prompted the The NIST / Library of Congress (LC) Optical Disc Longevity Study.
The NIST / LC Optical Disc Longevity Study proved,
HOWEVER,
THEY also proved
WE THE PEOPLE can NOT get the same results
For this reason, both
BAN the use of all Recordable Optical Discs for storing Federal Records and Images.
IMPORTANT:
The NIST / LC Optical Disc Longevity Study revealed that DVD Recorders cause so many "data errors" -- in the RECORDING PROCESS
(the DVD-R discs) are "on the brink" of catastrophic "data block failure" -- immediately AFTER being recorded.
Also, the "dyes" in Recordable DVD-R discs are destabilized -- after recording -- and continue to degrade (i.e., change colors) due to many factors.
For these reasons, a "perfect" Recordable DVD disc
THE PROBEM COMPOUNDED:
If we "imagine" that we can stop the "spinning spiral" motion (RED) , you see a "side-to-side" motion (BLACK).
for "whatever the reason";
The Irregular motion in the data track
(BLACK)
-- causes the spinning spiral to "wobble" -- like an out-of-balance tire.
The laser "fires" -- to "burn data" -- where the data track SHOULD BE (BLACK) -- when in fact the track "wobbled" (RED) -- beyond "Recording Tolerances" -- and a "data block error" occurs.
For "Whatever the Reasons":
Mass Production Range of Error Tolerances :
In reality, ALL optical discs and ALL optical disc RECORDERS are "mass produced".
In the mas manufacturing process -- equipment wears -- and production tolerances shift -- creating slight irregularities.
These "slight irregularities" are within a Range of Error Tolerances -- built into every affordable (i.e., price comparative), mass produced
Wear and Tear on DVD Recorder:
After being sold, EVERY ONE of those affordable "off-the-shelf" DISC RECORDERS (above), with the repeated use,
Each period creates slightly more "irregularities" with each and every use
EVERY affordable "off-the-shelf" DISC has its own unique variances
All the things above are the -- For "Whatever the Reasons" -- that cause a disc to "wobble".
When wobble is present in the spiral track (which there always is) the DISC RECORDER creates LOTS of "data block errors"!
For this reason, a disc with a "disc life (not YOUR DATA'S LIFE) " of 40 years; can end up have a "data life" of only 1 to 5 -- immediately after being recorded.
As if that were not enough...
The FINAL PROBLEM:
Once the "light sensitive dye" in a DVD is "burned" (above) , the dye in the surrounding area becomes 'unstable" -- and continues to "age".
According to the NIST / Library of Congress Optical Disc Longevity Study
For this reason -- in 2007 -- one month after the FINAL REPORT of the NIST / LC Optical Disc Longevity Study,
Read NARA's decision for yourself and download it for friends (below).
Both NARA and TLC advise the public -- including studios serving the public -- to NOT use recordable" DVD discs -- for long term data storage.
This ban -- and public recommendation -- continues into Decade 2020 -- with no end in sight.

Professional commercial studios know
This is called Digital DeGeneration™ Loss (which is different than Analogue Generation Loss).
For that reason, professional commercial studios provide their clients with virgin "DVD Disc Image" Files, so that clients can make thousands of DVD discs -- all of the same identical quality -- and their clients can avoid the ravages of DVD Digital DeGeneration™ Loss -- caused by DVD duplication --copying one DVD disc to another DVD disc.

When disaster strikes, people beg God for The 3 Priceless P's:
I know this truth first hand; as I was "wiped out" by hurricane Opal.
I also know the personal pain -- of living through the 5 Stages of Grief and Loss -- when, suddenly -- at the end of a city-to-city move -- I realized...

Too often, we only realize what IS priceless, only after it is lost.
The Hidden Joy of Morbid Truth
The hidden value in having home movies -- is the peace, joy, and security -- of just knowing -- you CAN REVISIT "THEM" -- ON DEMAND -- any time you choose.
This value is taken for granted -- until the moment of shock -- the moment you realize -- your videos are lost forever; NO, the moment your realize...
No! "THEY" -- were not just videos,
No! "THEY" -- were your memories,
No! "THEY" -- were your visual vicarious visits,
No! "THEY" -- were people you love; and,
No! "THEY" -- ARE GONE NOW --GONE FOREVER!
And it was so NEEDLESS!
If I had only known...
The Morbid Psychological Truth
The loss of home videos -- is the psychological death --
The Priceless Value of Home Movies:
YOUR home movies are YOUR visual "bridge to the past"
Thru home movie videos, you can re-visit
Best of all, you can view home movies with the BEFORE and AFTER™ Video Comparison wisdom of hindsight -- now that you are older and wiser -- having "made mistakes" of your own; and (hopefully) forgiven many mistakes -- both of your own and others, too.
Video As Extension Personal Memory:
Video is NOT JUST technical "fun and games"!
With the invention of 8mm and Super 8 movie film, and VHS video, 8mm tapes, the explosion of digital video media; and, now, with "smart phones" and social media...
The Priceless Value of home movies has evolve into SOCIAL MEDAI -- and the Power of Priceless Video has never been so great!
Videos temporarily suspend reality.
Videos flood our visual and emotional -- "being right now" -- with images, memories, and emotions -- from the past -- that still give us joy again, NOW -- again and again!
"Blasts from the Past" give us
Your home videos are as priceless -- as the value of reliving "the times of your life" -- with "the most important people in life" -- time after time after time.
you deserve the best
In the last few years, social media has "devolved" into a vicious place to hurt people -- by some people labeled as "friends".
For example, Facebook recently was "hacked" -- stealing the personal information of millions of people.
Most heartbreaking are people
So powerful, is this assault -- and rejection -- that many young people commit suicide -- or suffer the emotional scars of rejection -- for life.
Social Media Suicide
When YOU "share" your most valued family photos and videos -- with hundreds of "friends" -- you trust -- without merit -- you WILL FIND your most valued family images -- showing up in places you -- can not control -- with captions and notations -- that bring shame and insult -- to you and those you love.
This permanent CHARACTER ASSASINATION -- is a psychological murder; OR,
Is this this death of character -- a Suicide?
The security of social media can easily be compromised when "friends" -- who are NOT REALLY "friends" -- cut and past -- or download -- photos and videos -- for the purpose of exploitation.
WE ALL KNOW ALL "FRIENDS" ARE "NOT FRIENDS"!
Some "Friends" are
Worst of all, is the "Friend" that turns "Enemy" -- and you have not clue -- as to when or why.

I know the emotional pain of lost videos.
I lost over 20 hours of my home videos -- of my parents, grandmother, uncles, friends, and other family members.
Many of the videos were interviews with family members -- recording priceless family history;
However, the true loss, was the loss of re-living the bond of love -- that was self-evident in many of the videos -- especially my Grandmother's love for me; and my love for her.
When I moved to my new studio, I place ALL my master videos and backup videos -- and DVDs -- in to ONE BOX.
Bad move!
The ugly truth was, I took my home videos for granted.
I always knew I could watch them -- at a whim. I could just plug in a DVD -- "just go home to Grandma's"; or "visit my parent's home" -- to take a walk down memory lane -- and feel the love of those times and those places -- come alive -- in me -- again. An yes, there were also smiles with tears of joy!
However, after moving city-to-city, I suddenly realized
I panicked! I felt a sudden, profound loss! I was shocked!
But this was only the beginning!
After searching, and searching literally tearing the studio-- and my house apart, I began to experience a deep emotional mourning -- for loved ones I had already mourned -- decades ago! What was more painful, was I felt I had lost a part of myself; my own memories -- which I had counted on -- not as fuzzy organic "memory" -- but as visual technology "memory"-- "video on demand".
I couldn't help myself.
This emotional pain drove me to look for the lost videos -- obsessively -- every time I had a few spare moments.
Then this pain into self-condemnation
How could I NOT realize how important " my own family movies " were -- to ME -- and I was "in the business"!
How could I be so careless -- to put EVERYTHING-- in the same box -- to be intrusted to strangers -- who could care less!
How many times have I heard the words from clients, "we lost all our movies when we moved! "
How many times had I told clients to always keep their master videos - separated from backup videos -- especially when MOVING!
Finally, I actually got on my knees and prayed -- that God would help me find my videos -- or release me from mourning their loss -- same as beloved family members. I gave it to God; and gave up!
I can now give Thanks to God, that months later,
I now realize how priceless -- my own personal videos are -- to ME.
I am also thankful for the experience -- of finding that which was lost -- I believe by the "Grace of God" -- with much Love and Thanksgiving!
Most of all; I realize what I do for YOU -- is a sacred trust, maybe even an answer to your own prayers. And if so...
Your home videos are priceless -- to me, too!
Amen.

Liberated Color Emended™ "Master™ files" take up too much bandwidth -- to play "Master™ files" over the Internet.

3 Video For Internet Display
To play video over the internet, we make a "proxy" video file (i.e., a lower density video file) from both
The "proxy" video file is Universally Compatible -- with any device connected to the Internet. This includes Mac and PC computers, iPhones, iPads, OTG smart phones and smart pads, etc.
Our Video Streaming™ THE Service™ website -- www.FlixR.us -- is used for you to approve your video -- SIDE BY SIDE on any Mac or PC computer.
Video Capture does NOT have "master files" -- to make proxy video -- UNLESS they "rip and strip" it from video "captured" to DVD. Some "dis-services" actually do this -- and call the "Ripped and Stripped" file (you guessed it...) a "master file". Therefore we are safe to say...
"Video Capture" omits this step -- or "fakes" this step! .
4 Video Approval Process:
BEFORE and AFTER™ Video Comparison
Our service is a creative work collaboration with our clients -- whether they are Commercial or Private -- AND your participation is critical.
You are Executive Producer -- which means, not only do you make timely Payments, to move your project forward;
You are also responsible to participate in Client-Side Quality Control Checks.
For Example: You will need to check for the correct spelling of YOUR name -- in the graphics -- before we start making massive copies of your video -- and misspelled name -- in multiple video products. Checking graphics you have given us to insert into your movie -- is an easy check for you -- and a big problem for us -- if they are wrong.
As Executive Producer:
Likewise:
We reserve the right to stop your project -- at any time -- for any reason -- or NOT Liberated Color Emend™ any Liberated Video Master™ file.
We do not want your money if we can not give you Added Value-to-Video™ -- that YOU can see!
For Example, the Liberated Master™ file may reveal -- that the video images are "too good" -- or "too bad"-- to merit Liberated Color Emend™. In such cases, YOUR investment in Liberated Color Emending™ IMPROVEMENTS™ is NOT prudent or advised -- AND A WASTE OF OUR TIME.
BEFORE and AFTER™ Video Comparison
Using your
is better than "test reels" or "test video" -- because it lets you see your video -- BEFORE and AFTER -- value is added -- in each production cycle -- before you pay. Traditional test reels do NOT show video -- BEFORE and AFTER -- value is added. For this reason, we do not do "test reels".
Color quality, graphics, and image details can be evaluated using "smart" phones and pads -- which now have high resolution displays -- held up-close and personal -- inches from your eyes. This is BETTER than watching video across the room -- on a large screen display -- playing from a DVD disc.
The "proxy" video file can be displayed on a larger computer display, with the advisory that "proxy" video can be zoomed too much -- and the user can create "false" artifacts -- not actually in the video.
BEFORE and AFTER™ Video Comparison
BE ADVISED: The longer you take to review video, the long your extend your production cycle. If you take too long, then other client's project may be inserted into your production cycle -- stretching your over-all production period.
You pay -- only after you approve each segment -- to move your project forward.
After you have approved and paid for a production cycle, we can then render and upload 1080p video that corresponds to that production cycle -- to www.FlixR.us -- for you to stream or download.
As we are on the brink of decade 2020, the market place is exploding with new video technology. It is important for you to use 1080p video -- on as many video platforms as possible -- so we can assist you if needed with those technologies.
For Example: Video Mirroring from iPhone to Apple TV-- displayed on UHD TV.
Meanwhile you can enjoy -- and share -- your "proxy" videos with ALL your friends and family -- using your "free trial subscription" to www.FlixR.us.
Many video services will show you "finished" video -- on the Internet -- AFTER YOU PAY; however you have no frame of reference (i.e. 20/20 Vision™ -- BEFORE AND AFTER perspective) of whether or not the video "looks better" than the OLD legacy video.
To do that, you have to find a way to play your OLD legacy video -- and compare it (somehow) to your "captured video". Most people never go to those pains, and thus most people never know "what they paid for". Therefore it is safe to say...
"Video Capture" omits this step -- or "fakes" this step! .
5 Our Economical Production Cycle
We Liberated Color Emend™ video in roughly 1 hour segments (i.e., Volumes) , allowing you to approve 1 or 2 video segments at a time -- keeping payments affordable. Windows 7
The Production Cycle
Because the client controls both approval and payment, the production cycle in affected by client participation.
The average production cycle takes about a month -- once we start your project.
6 The Payment Process
Your "approval" by text or e-mail -- and your "payment" -- is "a legal agreement" -- that
As you can see, your approving and paying in increments -- with you in charge of both -- is a "safety net" for you -- and THE BEST QUALITY CONTROL we can have.
We no longer need to get ANY financial information from YOU;
instead...
We just send you a PayPal Payment Request -- by e-mail or by text.
You make your payment using a PayPay secure form -- on your computer or cell phone.
PayPal accepts -- Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.
PayPal accepts -- bank draft payments
PayPal has really upgraded their service in the last couple years, so much so, many bankcard processors are switching (unbeknown to their commercial customers) to Papal Processing. I know this to be true first hand, as this is what happened to our "Skipjack" credicard processing service. Many merchants are "ditching" their "third party" "middle man" -- and just going direct to PayPal -- like ME!
I am so impressed with PayPal's service, I wrote "More About PayPal" -- and I get nothing for doing it.
7 The Video Products Creation Process:
When you have made your
last payment
-- approving the last video footage in your project
-- we shift production -- to manufacturing and testing physical products.
At the end of the post-production process, after final payment is received, we make your
Each of these products will look BETTER -- than your OLD legacy video.
We open all products purchased on your behalf - like flash and HDD drives, adaptors, etc.; load them with video, and test them. After testing, we re-package all media -- re-using the existing packaging -- if we can; or, if not, using protective packaging -- suitable for shipping.
We also upload 1080p Streaming Video™ THE Product™ -- to www.FlixR.us -- for you to stream or download.
Since Video Capture has no "master files" they can make all the products above. So, it is no surprise...

When you receive your New Video Products -- along with your OLD legacy motion pictures -- you have 30 days to review everything -- before we purge your project from our backups.
If you need more time, or have questions, or problems -- call us -- before the end of 30 days!
This period can be extend up to a week for each hour of your project -- upon request.
Beyond that time, we will ask you to purchase a second Library Archive Drive -- as it is something you obviously NEED - and WE NEED -- so we can free up space on our video server.
10 Clients For Life:
We consider YOU -- and your FAMILY -- clients for life. We routinely help clients with questions -- years after a sale.
If you -- or the recipient of your Video Library Drive-- have issues with your drives -- like making backups, or "cloning" products we have made for your, we can work with you. If need be, we can work over the Internet -- with your permission -- by logging onto your computer -- and troubleshooting any problems.
Fees for services beyond the scope of our original agreements may be requested for help beyond a "quick fix".

Video -- within a "range of variations" -- is summarized as only one kind of video data -- in each I-Frame -- thus the variations (i.e., subtile details) are "lost forever" (i.e. Very LOSSY Compression) and the "range of variations" are never recreated on Decoding.
In short, the final video looks "flat"
NOTE: Dual-pass Rendering preserves "all ranges of variation" within the I-Frame.
With Single-pass Rendering, INTRA-I-Frame (i.e, comparing data across a Group of Pictures) Decoding of data is not possible.
With Single-pass Rendering there is

Exactly What Is...
Step 1 -- What is movie film?
A "mechanical" technology for displaying "chemically developed" MOVING PICTURES.
The displayed images were actually "shadows" surrounded by "colored light". If you have ever watched "shadow puppets" in a "light box" then you have an idea of "how" movie film works.
I offer a tutorial on "How Movie Film Works" -- on my website www.Film-to-Video.com.
Movie film was invented in the early 1900's era and pre-date ALL video and digital Motion Picture technologies.

Why DVD Data Dies!™
Above: A working DVD-R disc -- that WILL eventually fail.
If your DVD looks like this, we can most likely save your video.
Above: A FAILED DVD-R disc
Notice the faded "dye" pattern around the bottom of disc.
A similar fate awaits - ALL -- "dye based recordable" DVD discs.
The DVD "dye" layer is where YOUR data (video) -- called a "disc image" -- is "saved". But "saved" does NOT mean "safe".
GOOD NEWS:
A DVD disc is only a "storage container" -- for your priceless video "home moves". We can digitally "lift" the video disc image from your DVD and ReMaster your video -- without loss -- ReEngineer it and ReMaster it -- for Era 2020 Video -- BETTER THEN THE ORIGINAL -- DVD video!
But Why Do "Dye" based DVD Discs DIE?
The NIST / Library of Congress Optical Disc Longevity Study revealed that DVD Recorder INDUSTRY never "standardized" DVD Recorders -- used to RECORD DVD discs. The is left each DVD RECORDER manufacture to "do their own thing". As a result, most DVD discs -- have so many "recording errors -- they are already pushed to the brink of failure -- immediately after the disc is recorded.
The NIST / LC study reveled, the light activated "dye" -- in the DVD data layer -- is NOT stable -- once activated by laser -- and the "dye" continues to change colors. Only a slight aging is required to push "error rich" sections of the disc -- into "data block failure".
The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) reports that the "dyes" drift into "data block failure" within 1 to 5 years -- even if the disc itself is designed to last 45 years -- and marketed as an "archive" or "gold" disc.
NARA banned the use of ALL "dye" based recordable optical disc from use for Federal Records -- in October, 2007.
DVD DISC manufactures DO NOT WARRANTY DATA LONGEVITY -- because they do NOT know which brand of NON-STANDARD DVD Recorder -- will be used -- to burn the disc; nor do they know the "environmental conditions" -- to which the activated "dyes"-- in "error rich sections of the disc -- will be exposed.
In My Opinion: There is NO SUCH THING -- as a "dye" based ARCHIVE GRADE -- DVD disc -- because DATA LONGEVITY is determined by the integrity of the DVD RECORDER -- not the DVD disc; and DVD Recorders WERE NEVER STANDARDIZED TO RECORD -- TO ALL -- DIVD DISCS!
For that reason, it is hypocrisy, if not deceptive advertising -- in my opinion -- for DVD MANUFACUTRES
to market -- "dye" based recordable DVD discs -- for data storage purposes -- using words like -- "archive" "gold" "millennium".
In Era 2020,
The DVD disc "thing" -- is just a container for -- the digital "thing".
For Example: Your "home movies" are YOUR VIDEO -- which are stored in the "dye layer" of a DVD-R disc. If the "dye layer" fails (see disc above), YOUR VIDEO DIES WITH THE DVD "dye".
The DEATH of YOUR VIDEO -- is "tied" to (i.e., captured by) -- the CONTAINER which YOUR VIDEO is "captured" to. In most cases, in Era 2020, that is a "dye" based Recorded DVD disc.
In Era 2020™ Video is "getting a divorce" from medium. In Era 2020, video is Liberated™ -- as a FREE and INDEPENDENT product -- from "media".
Liberated Video is the NEW Video Standard; Captured Video is the OLD Standard.
The "death" of YOUR Captured Video-- home movies -- on DVD is in immediate "Danger of Death" -- tied to 4 possibilities as follows:
Technology DEATH Shifts (3 above) are the greatest "killer" of captured video "
The Relative Size of OLD "tube" TV sets to HD TV and UHD TV

You may be surprised at the media type / display size relationships.

Video Capture aka Video Ripping™
Video Capture is the process of "copying" (not cloning) OLD legacy video media (e.g., video tape) -- to NEW video media (e.g., DVD-R).
Video Capture -- aka (also known as) -- "Video Ripping" -- is last century -- and last decade -- legacy technology -- that is, shamefully, still used by many video services.
After a Video Capture, "a copy" of finished video has both
The NEW "Captured" video -- is INFERIOR to -- the OLD legacy video.
The following list puts Video Capture Technology (aka Video Ripping) into historical perspective -- with where we are now -- in the decade Era 2020™. I have used color coding on the text to reference the chart above -- so you can "SEE" what the numbers below actually mean.
YOU ARE HERE: Era 2020:
IF YOU LEARN NOTHING ELSE ...
The "death" of YOUR Captured Video is tied to 4 possibilities as follows:

Streaming Liberated™ Video - Vs - Captured™ Video
ALL video before 2000 -- VHS, S-VHS, and Video8 -- is DVD "sized" video ( see BLUE area in graph below ).
MOST video from last decade was DVD "sized" video -- Hi8, D8, MiniDV -- is DVD "sized" video ( see BLUE area in graph below ).
Most Captured Video -- from OLD legacy video -- is Ripped™ to DVD discs ( see BLUE area in graph below ).
That means

In general a "commercial quality" Movie DVD displays well on a 1080p HDTV; we all know what that looks like.
HOWEVER, Captured Video -- on a DVD is NOT "commercial quality".
Captured Video -- on a DVD is the quality of OLD legacy video -- that was designed to display on OLD Television sets (i.e., with TV Tubes).
Captured Video -- on a DVD -- will NEVER look "great" on a 1080p display.
Using Captured Video there is

3 Problems: With Captured Video Services
Video capture companies DO NOT tell you, the experts in digital archiving
- The National Archives and Administration (NARA) and
- The Library of Congress (TLC)
Banned the use of DVD-R disc -- for long term storage -- of ALL data types-- in 2007 -- a ban that continues into the 2020 decade.
Last, but not least, both institutions advise the public (e.g., people like us) and commerce (e.g., like Video Capture companies) -- to avoid the use of DVD-R discs -- for long term storage . Proof of this later.
So What is "Capturing Video"?
Over simplification would be to say
What YOU really need to know... About "Capturing Video"
in Capturing video, the following over simplified processes takes place 60 times per second.
How is Captured Video good for anyone?
In process above, there is
In the end, the Video Capture client has only a "temporary" DVD-R disc -- with both 1) Generation Loss and 2) LOSSY compression -- with an unknown "data life span" of 1 to 5 years.
If the OLD legacy video (tape) is on its "last legs", then the NEW "captured" DVD -- with INFERIOR video -- becomes the ONLY viable video repository -- which is in peril -- just sitting on a shelf.
Also remember, The Library of Congress (TLC) and The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) -- with the best DVD media and DVD recorders in the world -- banned the use of DVD-R -- for long term storage purposes -- over a decade ago. Both TLC and NARA have advised the public to NOT use DVD-R discs -- for long term storage purposes NOR to rely ONLY an a DVD for storing video or data.
Go figure -- the sanity -- of what ALL this should mean to a person -- in the Era 2020™ -- who is "shopping"-- for last century INFEROR Captured video; when...
They COULD be getting SUPERIOR Era 2020™ quality video -- in a variety Video Products -- including DVD discs -- BETTER than the OLD legacy video.
Video Capture is "fast" and the video is "dirty", but, Captured Video is NOT a "commercial grade" video..
Video Capture is a "fast" way to make money, but holds much risk and little value for the client.

The "Dark Side" of Ripped™ and Stripped™ Video
"Black Market Quality" videos are notoriously INFERIOR to the original video tapes.
Unfortunately, most drug stores, "big box" stores -- and most Video Transfer Services on the Internet -- LEAGALLY sell you -- "Black Market Quality" video tape conversions -- at "highway robbery" prices.
Before you pay, they certainly do NOT let you compare -- BEFORE and AFTER "Black Market Quality" videos. That's something you would have to figure out on your own!
When you pay a "quality price" -- for "quality video" -- you should get it!

What YOU NEED to Know:
The term Ripping™ Video is a slang word for "stealing video" -- or literally "ripping-off" video.
Stealing "stuff" -- does NOT encumber a "thief" with "quality control" concerns.
Ripping video started out as an "illegal" method of stealing video from "copy protected" video media -- using crude or unconventional video "copy" methods. The resulting video is INFERIOR to the source video. INFERORITY of the video is amplified by inherent Generation Loss.
The term Generation Loss" means -- the 2nd generation of video (i.e., a copy of video) -- is INFERIOR to -- the 1st generation of video (i.e., the original, source video). Refers mainly to "tape-to-tape copies" but extends to "DVD-to-DVD copies" -- due to crude DVD recording standards. Generation Loss can also apply to " Tape-to-DVD copies" -- which is compounded by LOSSY Compression while recording to the DVD.
Generation Loss has NOTHING to do with "Video Compression"(i.e., Video Stripping).
The term "Stripping" video means -- a slang word for "Striptease" -- means "taking off as many (video) layers as you dare" -- while continue to "tease" the viewer -- to continue to watch (the video). If "digital blocks" (i.e., video noise) begin to show, stripping video (i.e., LOSSY compression) has "gone too far"!
Using Video Stripping
The Stripped video is watched for "quality of content" -- not for "quality of image".
Example: Home movies are notoriously "bad video", but people will watch them to see -- people, places, and things -- now aged or gone.
The term LOSSY means -- video lost forever!
The degree of LOSSY compression is variable -- much like Lite beer and Stout beer.
If video -- that is lost -- is also redundant -- in the same frame of video -- or in an adjacent frame of video, then the LOSSY video, can be recreated as "near equivalent" video -- upon decompression.
"Lite" LOSSY Compressed video is best for HDTV display -- where WIFI is unlimited..
"Heavy" or "Very" LOSSY video is best for iPhones or OTG displays -- where data minutes matter; however, use of "Heavy" or "Very" LOSSY video on a HDTV display -- will be full of digital blocks.
For example, H.264/MP4 video, used to stream video over the Internet -- by companies like Netflix -- is "Lite" LOSSY Compressed video; and both DVD and Blu-ray use "Lite" LOSSY Compressed video.
The term "compressed" means -- "Striping" down data rich (i.e., data dense) video -- to fit into space available (i.e., onto media or within bandwidth).
Examples: One hour of video from a 12 Gb (i.e., Gig ab yes) Master™ file can be "Lite" LOSSY Compressed onto a 4.7 Gb DVD-R disc -- using Dual-pass Rendering.
Example: 6 hours of video from a VHS tape, "Heavy" LOSSY Compressed onto a 4.7Gd DVD -- is pure stupidity; but there are companies that WILL do that for you -- and take your money.
The term "Captured" means -- video is "imprisoned on" -- or "bound to"-- a video medium (e.g., like DVD).
For example: Video Captured to DVD -- is "imprisoned on" -- or "bound to" -- the DVD and the DVD player. The video itself is functionally lost (i.e., dead) --

A Technology DEATH Shift™ (TDS™ ) is -- when consumer demand "shifts" to a NEW industry -- and the OLD Industry disappears.
Technology DEATH Shifts create a lot of problems for many "devoted" consumers. The REASON for TDS is because video has traditionally been "tied" to or "imprisoned" by or "captured" to -- physical media. The problem is, when the Industry -- that makes the video "MEDIUM" -- disappears, AND the industry that builds the video "MEDIUM PLAYER" -- disappear, too. Dedicated consumers are left to scavenge eBay and other "used" equipment markets for replacements and parts -- to keep "media" working.
If you still own Music CD discs, and your CD Player has worn out -- you know exactly what I am talking about -- trying to find a "used" CD player on eBay.
More video is lost due to Technology Shifts -- that ALL OTHER DANGERS COMBINED!
For that reason, I call" Technology Shifts" a
